Bhubaneswar: In a significant move to boost tourism and infrastructure, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Wednesday announced an ambitious development plan for Nicco Park and the surrounding Bhubaneswar Lake area.
The initiative aims to transform this region into a world-class, attractive center that will appeal to both local residents and international visitors.
The initiative will cover a sprawling 3,260 hectares, with the first phase focusing on the development of Nicco Park. The Chief Minister highlighted that the plan incorporates a range of modern amenities, including improved lighting, beautification of the lake area, cycling tracks, an Ayurvedic park, foot overbridges, fine dining restaurants, hotels, and other state-of-the-art facilities.
“This development will serve as a modern, eco-friendly, and vibrant tourism hub, enhancing Bhubaneswar’s status and offering a premium destination for visitors both within the state and from abroad,” the Chief Minister stated.
The meeting was attended by key officials, including Minister for Housing and Urban Development Krushna Chandra Mohapatra, Principal Secretary of the Housing and Urban Development Department Usha Padhee, Principal Secretary Manoj Ahuja, Vice Chairman of the BDA N. Thirumala Naik, and Commissioner of the BMC Rajesh Prabhakar Patil.
