Boudh: A tragic incident occurred in Kusashinga village under Harbhanga police station in Boudh district, where a man was critically injured in a dynamite explosion.
According to reports, Sachidananda Mahakud of Kusashinga village was attaching the explosive to break rocks in his land when the dynamite inadvertently went off in his hand, which was completely severed.
The explosion also caused severe injuries to his head. He was admitted to Harbhanga Community Health Centre and later shifted to Boudh District Headquarters Hospital, and eventually to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack, as his condition deteriorated.
However, some locals claimed that the dynamite exploded while he was using it for fishing in the Mahanadi river.
Locals have demanded a ban on the sale of explosives like dynamite, which are allegedly available in the market illegally, and have called for an investigation and raids on shops selling such explosives. The incident has raised concerns about the misuse of dynamite and the need for stricter regulations.
