Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued orange and yellow warnings for several districts in Odisha, forecasting thunderstorms and strong winds in the next three hours.
As per the nowcast warning issued by the IMD at 9:20am, the regional weather office has issued orange alert to Kendrapara, Bargarh, Jagatsinghpur, Nuapada, Sambalpur, and Balangir. Districts are under an orange alert are likely to experience moderate thunderstorms with wind speeds of 40-50 kmph, lightning, and light to moderate rain. Residents are advised to be prepared for minor damage to loose structures, banana trees, and standing crops.
Meanwhile, Balasore, Bhadrak, and Puri have been issued a yellow alert, predicting light to moderate thunderstorms with wind speeds of 30-40 kmph, lightning, and light to moderate rain. Residents are advised to be aware of the weather conditions and take necessary precautions.
The IMD has advised residents to keep a watch on the weather for worsening conditions and be prepared to move to safer places if necessary. They are also advised to protect themselves from lightning strikes and take precautions to prevent damage to structures and crops.
