Bhubaneswar: A minor reportedly died of dengue in Bada Aryapalli village under Chatrapur block of Ganjam district.
State Public Health Director Dr. Nilakantha Mishra confirmed that the health department received a complaint and has started an investigation.
“We have received a complaint about the death. A detailed inquiry is being conducted to ascertain the exact cause,” said Dr. Mishra while speaking to reporters on Monday.
To stop the spread of dengue, the state government will start an awareness campaign from June 1 across Odisha. This campaign will follow the model of the previous ‘Dengue Rath’ initiative.
“Health workers will visit homes and inform people about dengue prevention. Around 100 volunteers will also take part in the campaign in Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation areas,” Dr. Mishra added.
Meanwhile, a medical team from Chatrapur Community Health Centre (CHC), led by Dr. Swadhin Kumar Rath, visited the village. The team collected water samples from different spots where water was found stagnant. These samples will be tested in laboratories to check for dengue mosquito larvae.
Health officials have asked people to stay alert, clean water containers, and go to the hospital if they show symptoms like fever, body ache, or rashes.
