Bhubaneswar: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has ordered a re-examination for students involved in malpractice at two examination centres in Bargarh district.

Students found guilty of adopting unfair means (UFM) during the 2025 Class X and XII Board examinations will have to appear for a supplementary exam starting from July 15, 2025, or wait for the main examination scheduled for 2026.

According to an official press release, CBSE had declared the overall results for Class X and XII on May 13, 2025. However, shortly after the announcement, reports emerged regarding unfair practices at Odisha Adarsha Vidyalaya (OAV), Bandhupalli, and Padampur Public School, two key exam centres in Bargarh district. These centres accommodated students from six schools, including four OAVs.

In response, the CBSE Regional Office in Bhubaneswar constituted a Sub-Committee to investigate the allegations. After examining answer scripts, CCTV footage, reports, and other relevant documents, the committee confirmed that unfair means were indeed used by some students during the examinations.

The State Government has taken a strong stance on the issue, emphasizing that cheating not only undermines the integrity of the examination process but also harms the prospects of honest, hardworking students. Following CBSE’s recommendations, the government is taking stringent action against the teachers and staff implicated in facilitating malpractice at the examination centres.

As per the report submitted by CBSE on May 26, 2025, students found guilty of malpractice will have the option to take the supplementary examination commencing July 15 or wait for the next main examination in 2026 to improve their academic records.

The State Government has reiterated its commitment to zero tolerance against unfair means in examinations and pledged to ensure that such incidents are thoroughly investigated and appropriate corrective measures are implemented to maintain the credibility of the education system.
