Bhubaneswar: Seven new Covid-19 positive cases have been detected in Odisha, taking the total number of infected individuals in the state to 30.
According to health officials, the maximum number of cases have been reported from Khordha district with 16 cases, followed by Cuttack district with 9 cases.
Other districts with reported cases include Puri, Sundargarh, Jagatsinghpur, Keonjhar, and Balasore, each with one case. Health experts have identified the strain as a sub-variant of Omicron, which is not considered highly deadly but can cause moderate symptoms such as fever, cough, and cold.
However, the elderly and people with comorbidities are at a higher risk and are advised to follow Covid guidelines. Director of Public Health Dr. Nilakantha Mishra said that unlike other states, Odisha has not seen a major surge in Covid infections so far.
He added that the state government has not received any new guidelines from the Centre but will continue to follow standard preventive measures.
