Bhubaneswar: A review meeting of the Shree Anna Abhiyan was held under the chairmanship of Dr. Arabinda Kumar Padhee, Principal Secretary of the Agriculture Department. The meeting focused on the annual work plan for the financial year 2025-26.
The Shree Anna Abhiyan, a flagship scheme of the Agriculture Department, aims to revive traditional foods like millet, suan, bajra, and kangu. The scheme has gained recognition, with these foods now being featured in five-star restaurants and adopted by leaders and actors.
Dr. Padhee emphasized the importance of increasing production, improving post-harvest management, and boosting sales of Shree Anna during the upcoming Kharif season. He suggested expanding millet cultivation in Odisha, making the state a hub for Shree Anna, which would provide employment opportunities and economically empower local communities.
The initiative is also helping to preserve traditional food culture and bring communities into the mainstream. The meeting was attended by senior officials from various departments and organisations, including the Director of Agriculture, Odisha State Supplies Corporation, and scientists from the Indian Food Research Institute.
