Jamshedpur: Tata Steel’s Neelachal Iron Ore Mines marked World Environment Day with a vibrant celebration centered on this year’s global theme: “Together, we can beat plastic pollution.” The event emphasized the company’s commitment to sustainability, environmental stewardship, and community engagement.

The celebration took place at the mine premises and nearby villages, where employees and local residents participated in a large-scale plantation drive, aimed at fostering eco-awareness and reinforcing the importance of green cover in combating pollution and climate change.

The event was graced by Rahul Kishore, Chief – Mines, who attended the function along with his family. In his keynote address, Kishore urged everyone to take responsibility for preserving nature not just in the workplace, but in everyday life. He praised the consistent efforts of the workforce in maintaining ecological standards at the mines and stressed the importance of collective action to build a sustainable future.

To engage the younger generation, drawing and slogan competitions were organized for children from the surrounding communities. Conducted in collaboration with the Tata Steel Foundation, the contests provided a platform for children to creatively express their concerns and solutions around environmental issues. The enthusiastic participation reflected a growing environmental consciousness among the youth.

Highlighting the event’s inclusive spirit, Kishore also felicitated dedicated mine workers for their outstanding contribution to environmental practices within the operation. The recognition served as motivation for others to follow suit and integrate sustainability into their daily routines.

The World Environment Day celebrations at Neelachal Iron Ore Mines successfully blended awareness, action, and community participation, reaffirming Tata Steel’s ongoing mission to promote eco-friendly operations and build stronger bonds with the communities it serves.
