Bhubaneswar: The Tamando police station has apprehended five individuals, including the main accused Manish Patnaik and Baburao Acharya, for running a vehicle theft gang in the capital city. The arrests were made after a thorough investigation revealed that the accused had stolen 11 motorcycles, including six Bullet bikes, and sold them to other individuals.

The police have seized a total of 11 motorcycles from the accused, who were found to be targeting vehicles that were not double-locked. The investigation also revealed that the accused had prior cases registered against them in various police stations, including Lingaraj, Maitri Vihar, and Pipili.

The accused, apart from Manish and Baburao, include Santosh Behera, Sachin Gowda, and Bijan Swain, who were found to be involved in buying and selling the stolen vehicles. Bijan Swain, in particular, has five cases registered against him at the Tamando police station.

The Bhubaneswar police have been commended for their efforts in cracking the case, and the DCP has awarded certificates of appreciation to the key personnel involved. The recovery of the stolen vehicles has brought relief to the vehicle owners, who have thanked the police for their prompt action
