Thunderstorms, Heavy Rainfall Likely In Three Odisha Districts Tomorrow: IMD

Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department has issued an orange warning for three Odisha districts, advising residents to be prepared for thunderstorms with lightning, gusty surface winds reaching 30-40 kmph, and heavy to very heavy rainfall.

Districts under orange warning are  Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, and Kalahandi.

Additionally, a yellow warning has been issued for multiple districts, including Kendrapara, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Nabarangapur, Nuapada, Kandhamal, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Balasore, Bhadrak, Ganjam, Gajapati, Koraput and Malkangiri.

As per the IMD prediction, thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds are expected in Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Sonepur, Boudh, Nuapada, Balangir, Kandhamal, Nabarangapur, Rayagada, Koraput and Malkangiri.

“Thunderstorm with lightning with gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Sonepur, Boudh, Nuapada, Balangir, Kandhamal, Nabarangapur, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri”, read the IMD’s prediction for June 17.

Residents are advised to take necessary precautions, stay indoors during thunderstorms, avoid open fields and waterlogged areas, and follow local administration advisories to ensure safety.
