Cuttack: The decomposed body was recovered from the Payal Restaurant in the CDA Periphery Market on Wednesday.
The body was identified as Ashok Barik, a resident of the Shankarpur area in Cuttack.
According to eyewitnesses, Barik was sleeping in the market complex on Tuesday night when the incident occurred.
Upon being informed, police reached the spot and deployed sniffer dogs to investigate the incident. Police, meanwhile, recovered the body and sent it to SCB Medical College and Hospital for post-mortem.
The police are yet to determine the motive behind the murder. However, police are monitoring CCTV footage to collect evidence regarding the murder.
The investigation is underway, with the police team working to identify and apprehend the perpetrators.
