Bhubaneswar: Leader of Opposition and Biju Janata Dal (BJD) president Naveen Patnaik has undergone a successful surgery for cervical arthritis at Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital in Mumbai. The surgery was performed under the supervision of his personal physician, Dr. Ramakant Panda.
According to Dr. Panda, Patnaik is currently under observation and is expected to be discharged in 5-7 days. “The former chief minister is active and conscious, and his condition is stable,” Dr. Panda said.
The surgery, which lasted around two hours, was performed by a team of experienced surgeons in the presence of doctors from the Asian Heart Institute. Patnaik’s brother Prem Patnaik and sister-in-law were present during the treatment.
Patnaik’s personal doctor, Dr. Ramakant Panda, will continue to oversee his treatment.
The news of Patnaik’s hospitalization prompted an outpouring of prayers from party leaders and workers across Odisha, with gatherings noted at several temples, including Lingaraj temple in Bhubaneswar and Baba Jhadeswar in Balasore. Supporters offered ‘dipa dana’ and puja for Patnaik’s speedy recovery.
