Bhubaneswar: Schools in Jajpur district have reopened today after a temporary shutdown due to a diarrhoea outbreak. Following the District Collector’s instructions, schools were closed for five additional days to ensure safety and prevent further spread of the disease.
Extensive preparations have been made for the reopening of schools, including thorough cleaning and water purification. The District Education Officer has been in touch with Block Education Officers, emphasizing the importance of school water purification, which is being closely monitored by the Collector.
Although students remained away from schools, teachers were required to report to school during the extended holiday period. Meanwhile, a new concern has emerged with jaundice cases reported in Jajpur after the diarrhoea outbreak.
The Health Department has sprang into action, conducting health camps in the affected villages and providing necessary services. Samples have been collected for testing, with 15 blood, 10 stool, and 4 water samples taken yesterday to determine the cause of the outbreak.
