Three Young Women En Route To Puri On Scooter Run Over By Bus Near Pipili

Bhubaneswar: In a tragic incident, three young women were killed after a government-run bus ran over them on the Bhubaneswar-Puri National Highway No. 317 near Tarakaj under Pipili police station in Puri district.

The victims, identified as Rimjhim Priyadarshani Sahu (20), Elena Das (20), and Kajal Das (20), were travelling to Puri on a scooter to attend the Rath Yatra festivities and have darshan of Lord Jagannath.

The incident happened when the scooter they were riding slightly collided with another vehicle, causing them to fall. A state government-run bus coming from behind lost control and ran over the young women, who were lying on the ground. The bus fled the scene, leaving the victims in a pool of blood.

The police recovered the bodies for post-mortem and seized the accident-hit scooter (OD 02 BQ 7367). An investigation is underway to identify the bus involved in the accident. According to reports, the deceased were students of Utkal Sangeet Mahavidyalaya in Bhubaneswar.
