Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department has issued an orange warning for Sundargarh, Mayurbhanj and Keonjhar districts, predicting extremely heavy rainfall today.
According to the today’s prediction, Sundargarh, Mayurbhanj, and Keonjhar districts are likely to receive extremely heavy rainfall. Besides, the regional weather office has issued yellow warning to six districts for heavy rainfall. The districts under yellow alert include Dhenkanal, Angul, Deogarh, Sambalpur, Jharsuguda, and Bargarh districts.
Thunderstorms with lightning and strong winds of 30-40 kmph are expected in these districts. The active low-pressure system over the Bay of Bengal is causing thunderstorms with rain to persist in various parts of the state.
Meanwhile, the IMD has issued a warning for heavy rainfall in Odisha over the next three days. A low-pressure system over the Bay of Bengal is expected to bring widespread rainfall, increasing water levels in major rivers.
According to the IMD prediction, rainfall will continue in Odisha until July 5, with some areas experiencing extremely heavy rainfall.
