Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange warning to seven Odisha districts and a yellow warning to 11 districts, forecasting heavy rainfall and thunderstorms across the state on Thursday.
Going by the IMD prediction for tomorrow, heavy to very heavy rain and thunderstorm with lightning with gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Sundargarh, Sambalpur, Jharsuguda, Koraput, Sonepur, Bargarh, Kalahandi. These districts are under orange warning.
Besides, districts under Malkangiri, Bolangir, Nuapada, Nabarangpur, Gajapati, Boudh, Angul, Deogarh, Kandahamal, Rayagada and Ganjam are likely to receive heavy rain and thunderstorm with lightning with gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph.
“Heavy rain and thunderstorm with lightning with gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Sonepur, Bargarh, Balangir, Boudh, Nuapada”, read the IMD prediction for July 4.
For July 5, the regional weather office has predicted heavy rain very at one or two places over the districts of Bargarh, Balangir and Sonepur.
For July 6, the regional weather office prediction reads: “Heavy to very heavy rain is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar and Sundargarh.” These destricts are under orange alert.
“Heavy rain is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Jajpur, Bhadrak and Balasore”, read the IMD forecast for July 6. These districts have been issued yellow alert.
For July 7, the regional weather office has predicted heavy to very heavy rain very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Jharsuguda and Bargarh. These two districts have been issued orange warning.
According to IMD forecast for the same day, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Keonjhar and Sundargarh districts will likely to experience heavy rain.
