OAS Association Withdraws Cease Work Agitation, To Resume Duty Tomorrow

Bhubaneswar: The OAS association withdrew the cease-work agitation following the arrest of BJP leader Jagannath Pradhan in connection with the assault on the BMC Additional Commissioner Ratnakar Sahoo. Association president Jyoti Mishra informed that all the officers will resume duty from tomorrow as the key demand has been fulfilled.

“The government had assured us to take action against the person, whoever he/she may be, no matter how influential. We had demanded action against the persons. He has been arrested. After we got the information, we held a meeting with our district units and decided to resume duty with immediate effect,” OAS officers’ association President Jyoti Mishra told the media.

In protest against the assault on a senior colleague while on duty, the OAS officers had been on mass leave in response to the assault of Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) Additional Commissioner Ratnakar Sahoo, who was allegedly dragged out of his office and attacked by a group of miscreants on Monday.

Despite the state government’s appeal, the officers had continued their protest for the third consecutive day on Thursday. Due to the strike, administrative functions and public service delivery had been severely disrupted across Odisha, including Bhubaneswar.

The officers had been demanding the arrest of BJP leader Jagannath Pradhan, who allegedly masterminded the attack on the senior OAS officer.
