Odisha To Face Possible Fuel And LPG Shortage From Tomorrow Due To Drivers’ Stir

Bhubaneswar: A state-wide shortage of fuel and LPG is looming in Odisha due to the ongoing protest by the Odisha Drivers’ Mahasangha, which has brought all forms of transportation to a standstill.

The General Secretary of the Utkal Petroleum Dealers’ Association, Sanjay Lath, said that the transportation of fuel from depots to petrol pumps has been severely affected, having been halted for the past 48 hours.

The situation is further exacerbated by the “Bharat Bandh” called by a forum of ten central trade unions and their associates, which has impacted public transportation. Lath warned that if the situation continues, Odisha may face a fuel shortage from tomorrow.

Lath also expressed frustration that, despite strike leaders claiming to allow emergency services, their activists are blocking roads and stopping emergency vehicles. He appealed to the Supreme Court of India to intervene and pass a strict order to prevent the general public from facing problems.

The Odisha Drivers’ Mahasangha’s strike has entered its second day, paralysing transport services across the State and causing widespread disruptions. The situation is likely to worsen unless a resolution is reached soon.
