Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has extended his congratulations to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on being conferred with Namibia’s highest civilian honour, ‘The Order of the Most Ancient Welwitschia Mirabilis’.
Majhi described the recognition as a proud moment for India, saying, “This is a proud moment for India. You are an inspiration to all.” He wished PM Modi continued success in strengthening India’s ties with the world.
The Order of the Most Ancient Welwitschia Mirabilis is Namibia’s highest civilian award, named after the rare and ancient desert plant Welwitschia Mirabilis, which symbolises resilience, longevity, and the enduring spirit of the Namibian people. This award marks the 27th international recognition received by PM Modi since 2014 and the fourth during his current diplomatic tour.
PM Modi was conferred the award by Namibian President Dr. Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah during a formal ceremony in Windhoek, Namibia’s capital. The Prime Minister expressed his gratitude, saying, “It is a matter of great pride and honor for me to be honoured with the Welwitschia Mirabilis. I humbly accept this honor on behalf of 140 crore Indians.
