Bhubaneswar: The All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Bhubaneswar, is set to host its 5th convocation ceremony on July 14 (Monday), marking a momentous occasion for hundreds of young medical professionals. The convocation will be graced by the President of India, Droupadi Murmu, who will attend as the Chief Guest and bless the graduating students.
Announcing the event at a press briefing, AIIMS Bhubaneswar Executive Director Dr. Ashutosh Biswas expressed pride and joy in hosting the convocation, calling it a defining milestone for healthcare professionals ready to serve the nation with compassion, commitment, and skill.
Prominent dignitaries, including Odisha Governor Hari Babu Kambhampati, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, Odisha Health Minister Mukesh Mahaling, and Bhubaneswar MP Aparajita Sarangi, are scheduled to attend the grand event.
643 Graduates to Receive Degrees
A total of 643 students will be conferred degrees across various disciplines:
- MBBS: 196 (Batches 2016 & 2017)
- MD/MS: 158 (Batches 2019 & 2020)
- DM/MCh: 49 (Batches 2019 & 2020)
- Post-Doctoral Fellowships (PDF): 21 (Batches 2022 & 2023)
- BSc Nursing: 116 (Batches 2017 & 2018)
- BSc Paramedical: 62 (Batches 2018 & 2019)
- MSc Nursing: 41 (Batches 2019 & 2020)
59 Gold Medals for Academic Excellence
In recognition of academic brilliance, 59 gold medals will be awarded to 31 outstanding students, including:
- 17 MBBS students
- 1 MD/MS student
- 1 DM/MCh student
- 3 BSc Nursing students
- 7 BSc Paramedical students
- 2 MSc Nursing students
Present at the press briefing were senior officials of AIIMS Bhubaneswar including Dean Dr. P R Mohapatra, DDA Lt. Col. Abhijit Sarkar, Registrar Dr. Sudiptra Ranjan Singh, Medical Superintendent Dr. Dillip Kumar Parida, and Dr. Vikash Bhatia.
