Bhubaneswar: In a significant move to expedite the Bhubaneswar Metro Rail Project, an inter-ministerial sub-committee has been constituted under the leadership of Deputy Chief Minister Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo.
The decision was finalised during a high-level meeting held today at the Lok Seva Bhawan Conference Hall.
The sub-committee formation comes under the direction of Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, aiming to ensure seamless coordination among departments and streamline project implementation. The panel’s focus will be on creating a robust public transport framework, reducing traffic congestion, and integrating rail and road systems within the city.
Key discussions during the meeting involved inputs from Delhi Metro Rail Corporation CEO Kalyan Patnaik, and senior officials Vikas Kumar and Pramit Garg, emphasising efficient planning and public interest. Ministers including Prithviraj Harichandan and Sampada Chandra Swain contributed valuable insights to the deliberations.
The committee’s mandate also includes drafting a comprehensive mobility plan to support Bhubaneswar’s growing urban demands.
