Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Cabinet on Wednesday approved the proposal to amend the Odisha AYUSH Assistant (Method of Recruitment and Conditions of Service) Rules, 2025, marking a significant step towards strengthening traditional healthcare services across the state.
With the introduction of AYUSH Health and Wellness Centres in Government Ayurvedic and Homoeopathic Dispensaries, the state government has undertaken a comprehensive restructuring of the AYUSH Assistant cadre to meet growing public health demands. The move aims to ensure better service delivery and create rational and time-bound promotional avenues for AYUSH personnel.
As part of this restructuring, the Cabinet approved the creation of 350 posts of Senior AYUSH Assistants and 12 posts of Head AYUSH Assistants. These newly created posts will carry revised pay scales under the Odisha Revised Scales of Pay (ORSP) Rules, 2017, with Level-7 for Senior Assistants and Level-9 for Head Assistants.
The amendment will not only boost career prospects within the AYUSH sector but also contribute to improving the reach and quality of Ayurveda and Homoeopathy services, particularly in rural and semi-urban areas where such systems play a crucial role in public health.
The restructuring reflects the state’s broader push to integrate AYUSH systems more effectively within the public healthcare framework and align personnel structures with the functional expansion taking place across government dispensaries.
