Bhubaneswar: A ritualistic purification ceremony, known as Maha Snana, was performed at the Puri Shree Jagannath temple on Wednesday evening after a child urinated near the inner wall of the temple. The incident led to a temporary disruption in the normal darshan, which was suspended from 7:45 pm to 9:30 pm.
Due to the Odisha Bandh call for the next day, a large number of devotees had gathered at the temple, anticipating disruptions in travel.
As a result, the evening darshan saw an unusually huge crowd. Upon learning of the incident, the sevayats announced the Maha Snana ceremony, which involved pouring lime water and washing the makeup throne. The ritual was completed, and normalcy was restored, allowing devotees to resume their darshan.
