Bhubaneswar: The Trauma Care Centre (TCC) of Dharani Dhar Medical College and Hospital (DDMCH), Keonjhar, gave a new lease of life to 10-year-old Kshirod Jamuda with a successful orthopaedic operation today.
Kshirod met with a road accident on Monday evening near his village, and after first-aid treatment at Harichandrapur Community Health Centre, was referred to the TCC of DDMCH.
On examination at DDMCH, he was found to have a low haemoglobin status, for which he was given the necessary treatment. After stabilisation, Kshirod was planned for trauma surgery today.
A team of experts comprising Prof Ashok Kumar Nayak, Orthopaedics, Prof Debashis Swain, Anaesthesiology and Critical Care, Dr Ananta Narayan Patra, and Medical Superintendent Prof Mahendra Kumar Nayak conducted the surgery successfully.
After the surgical procedure, Kshirod is now under intensive care in the trauma ICU for 24-hour observation.
The treating physicians expressed satisfaction over clinical response of the child, and expected his quick recovery to normalcy. The faculty and staff of both departments actively facilitated the process in a team spirit.
It may be pertinent to mention here that the TCC of DDMCH was set up under the joint aegis of the Health and Family Welfare Department and the District Mineral Fund of Keonjhar.
