Bhubaneswar: The 16-year-old girl from Balanga in Puri district, who was set on fire by miscreants and is currently undergoing treatment at AIIMS Bhubaneswar, will be airlifted to Delhi AIIMS today for advanced medical care.
Prof. Dr. Asutosh Biswas, Director of Bhubaneswar AIIMS, said that all preparations have been made for the airlifting, and the patient’s condition is stable. “We are planning to airlift the patient to Delhi AIIMS. All preparations have been made for the purpose. She will be airlifted by 12 noon,” Dr. Biswas said.
The minor girl, who suffered 75% burns, was abducted by miscreants while going to meet her friends and was taken to a riverside where she was set ablaze. Despite the horrific injuries, the girl is able to speak, and her blood pressure and other vitals have improved.
A team of doctors, along with family members, will accompany her to Delhi AIIMS, where experts will provide further treatment. The authorities have made necessary arrangements, and a bed has been reserved for the patient at Delhi AIIMS.
A relative of the victim girl said that they have discussed airlifting with the medical team. “I, along with the parents and uncle of the girl, met the AIIMS Bhubaneswar director and the doctors’ team, who said that her condition is better than earlier. She can be airlifted to Delhi as her vitals are stable,” the relative added.
The relative further stated that AIIMS Bhubaneswar authorities have discussed with their counterparts in Delhi and reserved a bed for the patient. “The patient will be airlifted as soon as possible. Her parents have agreed to the airlifting. A doctor’s team, along with one of her family members, will accompany her to Delhi,” the relative said.
The incident has sparked widespread outrage, with Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi assuring strict punishment for the perpetrators. “Whoever is responsible will be caught. An investigation is underway to determine the cause of this incident and to determine whether any conspiracy was involved,” CM Majhi said.
