Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast heavy to very heavy rainfall in several parts of Odisha from July 23 to 26.
According to IMD sources, a low-pressure system is likely to form over the North Bay of Bengal on July 24, which may lead to intense downpours in many areas.
Going by the IMD prediction for July 23, Cuttack and Nayagarh are likely to experience heavy to very heavy rainfall. These districts are under orange warning. Other districts, including Kendrapada, Jagatsinghpur, Jajpur, Dhenkanal, Angul, Kandhamal, Ganjam, Bhadrak, Balasore, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Khordha, and Boudh, may experience heavy rainfall on the same day.
On July 24, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, and Sundargarh are expected to receive heavy to very heavy rainfall. Balasore, Bhadrak, Kendrapada, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Jajpur, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Bargarh, Angul, and Dhenkanal may experience heavy rainfall.
As per the prediction of the regional weather office, Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Bargarh, Sambalpur, and Keonjhar are likely to receive heavy to very heavy rainfall on July 25. Besides, Mayurbhanj, Sonepur, Boudh, Balangir, Kandhamal, Kalahandi, Deogarh, Angul, Balasore, Bhadrak, Kendrapada, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, and Jajpur may experience heavy rainfall.
Some areas may still experience heavy to very heavy rainfall on June 26.
On Monday, Cuttack received 15.2 mm of rainfall, Bhubaneswar recorded 9.5 mm, Malkangiri received 3.2 mm, and Bhadrak recorded 3 mm.
