Bhubaneswar: In a significant step toward ensuring universal access to quality healthcare, a high-level specialized medical camp was conducted at the District Headquarters Hospital in Nuapada from July 21 to 24.
According to an official press release, the initiative, held under the Mukhyamantri Bayu Swasthya Seva Yojana, brought advanced medical services directly to residents of remote and underserved areas, eliminating the need for costly and difficult travel to major cities.
A team of 11 senior specialists from Sriram Chandra Bhanja Medical College and Hospital (SCB), Cuttack, participated in the four-day camp. Equipped with modern diagnostic tools, the camp provided a wide range of treatments and tests for patients suffering from complex health conditions.
During the camp, a total of 944 patients received specialized care. The breakdown included 69 patients in urology, 374 in neurology, 112 in nephrology, 97 in cardiology, 153 in gastroenterology, and 72 in endocrinology. All patients were successfully treated, many of whom had previously gone without access to such specialized interventions.
In addition to consultations, several diagnostic procedures were conducted on-site. These included 61 echocardiograms, 136 ECGs, 12 endoscopies, 24 ultrasound scans, 89 X-rays, and over 521 other diagnostic tests for various advanced conditions.
Leading specialists such as Dr. Pramod (Urology), Dr. Suchismita (Cardiology), Dr. Ashwini (Neurology), Dr. Rakesh (Nephrology), and Dr. Gyanaranjan (Hepatology) were directly involved in patient care. They were supported by a dedicated team including Dr. Bhabani Shankar, Dr. Bishwajit, Dr. Lincoln, Dr. Sananda, Dr. Sonalika, and Dr. Pankaj Kumar, who assisted in ensuring comprehensive treatment across departments.
Patients and their families expressed deep appreciation for the initiative, particularly highlighting the convenience and financial relief of accessing specialist care free of cost within their own district. Many residents, especially from interior regions, noted the difficulty of traveling to Bhubaneswar or Cuttack for treatment, praising the government for delivering high-end healthcare at their doorstep.
Local intellectuals and community leaders in Nuapada also welcomed the initiative and lauded the state government’s commitment to inclusive healthcare. They credited the Mukhyamantri Bayu Swasthya Seva Yojana for transforming the rural health landscape and bridging the urban-rural gap in access to advanced medical services.
