Bhubaneswar: In a shocking incident, a youth was critically injured after allegedly being hacked by his friend at Radho village under Udala police station limits in Mayurbhanj district late Friday night.
The victim has been identified as Jatindra Patra, a resident of Radho village. Locals rushed him to Kaptipada Sub-Divisional Hospital (SDH) following the attack. He was later referred to the District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) in Baripada, where he is currently undergoing treatment.
According to reports, the accused—reportedly a friend of the victim—visited Jatindra’s house in the evening and asked him to accompany him for a walk. When they reached a secluded area, the accused suddenly attacked Jatindra with a sharp weapon, inflicting a deep cut on his neck.
Hearing his screams, villagers rushed to the spot and found Jatindra lying in a pool of blood. However, the accused had already fled the scene by then.
On being informed, police reached the spot and launched an investigation into the incident.
