Bhubaneswar: The 15-year-old girl from Balanga in Puri district, who was critically injured in a brutal attack, has undergone two surgeries at AIIMS, New Delhi, Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida informed on Saturday.
The girl is currently receiving skin grafting treatment as part of her ongoing medical care.
Parida said the doctors have confirmed that there is no infection at present and that the girl is gradually recovering.
“She is able to hold normal conversations. However, since this is a burn case, full recovery may take around 40 to 50 days. The state government has also reviewed the compensation package being considered for the victim,” Parida said while speaking to the media at Bhubaneswar’s Biju Patnaik International Airport (BPIA) upon her return from Delhi.
The minor sustained critical burn injuries after being allegedly set on fire by three unidentified assailants while returning home from a friend’s house in Balanga on July 19.
Deputy Chief Minister Parida appealed to the public to come forward and report any similar incidents without delay.
“We have instructed the police to act swiftly on such complaints. If there is any delay or negligence, people should contact ministers directly or reach out to us via email or X (formerly Twitter),” she said.
