Bhubaneswar: In response to rising concerns over riverbank erosion and potential flooding, top officials from the Water Resources Department and district administration conducted a field visit to the vulnerable right embankment of the Baitarani River at Nuapatna village under Dashrathpur block in Jajpur district.
The inspection team included the Engineer-in-Chief and Project Director (EIC, PD) from the Department of Water Resources (DoWR), the Chief Engineer of Major and Medium Basin Subdivision (CE, MBBS), and the District Collector of Jajpur.
During the site visit, the EIC, PD directed the local authorities to intensify vigilance and ensure continuous night patrolling along the embankments to prevent any breach or unexpected developments. The Collector also reviewed the preparedness and assured all necessary administrative support.
Local officials have already begun implementing enhanced monitoring measures to safeguard lives and property in the low-lying areas vulnerable to flooding.
