Ex-Irrigation Superintending Engineer Convicted In Disproportionate Assets Case

Bhubaneswar: Madan Mohan Samantaray, former Superintending Engineer of the Irrigation Eastern Circle in Cuttack, has been convicted for possessing disproportionate assets.

The conviction was handed down by the Special Judge at the Special Court, Vigilance in Bhubaneswar.

Samantaray has been sentenced to undergo rigorous imprisonment for two years. Besides, the court also slapped a fine of Rs. 1 lakh.

The case was filed under Section 13(2) r/w 13(1)(e) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, for possessing disproportionate assets.

Following his conviction, Odisha Vigilance will now move the competent authority to stop Samantaray’s pension.
