Bhubaneswar: Six migrant workers from Odisha lost their lives in a tragic accident at the Satyakrishna Granite Quarry near Ballikurava in Andhra Pradesh’s Bapatla district on Sunday.

According to reports, approximately 20 labourers were working at the privately operated granite quarry when a large section of the quarry’s edge suddenly collapsed, burying several workers under massive boulders.

Upon receiving the information, senior officials from the local administration rushed to the spot and launched a rescue operation.

While six workers were declared dead on the spot, ten others sustained critical injuries and were shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment. Rescue efforts are still underway, as a few workers are feared trapped beneath the debris.

Two of the deceased were residents of the Mohana area in Gajapati district. They have been identified as Bhaskar Bisoi and Tukuna Dalei. The identities of the remaining four deceased workers are yet to be officially confirmed, although sources claim they were from Ganjam district, reports said.
