Nabarangpur: The Nabarangpur police have cracked the mysterious murder case of a young woman from Kosagumuda block headquarters, revealing a chilling tale of betrayal and premeditated murder linked to a love triangle.
The victim, who went missing on Saturday night after stepping out of her house around 9 PM to relieve herself, was later found unconscious just 200 meters from her home. Local residents alerted her family, who rushed her to the Kosagumuda Community Health Centre, where she was declared dead.
Recognizing the gravity of the incident, Superintendent of Police Madkar Sandeep Sampat constituted a special investigation team led by Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Aditya Sen. The team included SDPO Satyajit Kandalkar and officers from Kosagumuda, Kodinga, and Papadahandi police stations. A dog squad and scientific team were also deployed to aid in the investigation.
The probe led to the detention of two suspects. One of them, Dineshwar Sarabu of Sunarisahi in Kosagumuda, was identified as the victim’s lover.
According to the police, Dineshwar was simultaneously involved with another woman, whom he was pressuring for marriage. The deceased was unaware of this parallel relationship.
On August 2 (Saturday), Dineshwar lured the victim to a secluded location in the village under the pretense of a conversation. A heated argument broke out over his other romantic involvement. Following a premeditated plan, Dineshwar strangled the woman to death and fled, leaving her body at the scene.
The accused was tracked using call detail records (CDR), which showed prior communication with the deceased. During interrogation, he confessed to the murder. On Monday, the police conducted a scene reconstruction in the presence of the accused and later produced him in court.
Police also recovered Dineshwar’s mobile phone and the deceased woman’s broken mobile handset from his possession.
ASP Aditya Sen confirmed that the investigation is ongoing under the SP’s supervision.
