Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Government on Tuesday appointed Shovana Mohanty of Karanjia, Remuna in Balasore district, as the new Chairperson of the Odisha State Commission for Women.
A notification issued by the Department of Women & Child Development stated that the appointment has been made under Section 3(1) and Section 3(2)(b) of the Odisha State Commission for Women Act, 1993.
Mohanty will assume the role with immediate effect and shall hold office for a term not exceeding three years from the date of the notification. During her tenure, she will exercise the powers and perform the duties laid down under the Act.
The notification further mentioned that the salary, allowances, and other service conditions applicable to the Chairperson will be determined by the Government from time to time.
The notification also directed that the appointment be published in the upcoming issue of the Odisha Gazette.
