4 Nabbed In Rengali Bank Robbery Case; Arms And Loot Recovered

Jharsuguda: In a significant breakthrough, police have cracked the recent robbery at the Odisha Grameen Bank in the Rengali police station area under Lakhanpur block, near the Jharsuguda-Chhattisgarh border.

Nearly 15 days after the daring heist, four accused have been arrested, and a substantial portion of the stolen cash and items recovered.

The police have seized a country-made gun, two pistols, 13 live rounds, the helmets worn during the robbery, the getaway motorcycle, and ₹46,000 in cash out of the ₹74,950 looted. The investigation is ongoing to trace the remaining amount and stolen gold ornaments.

The accused have been identified as Birendra Singh (39) and Pappu alias Prabhat Singh (45) from the Jutmil police station area in Chhattisgarh, and Md Israfil Alam (42) and Hasan Ansari (34) from Ranchi, Jharkhand.

The robbery occurred on July 21. The masked robbers entered the bank premises wearing helmets, threatened staff at gunpoint, and looted nearly ₹75,000 in cash along with 44.6 grams of gold jewelry before fleeing.
