Baripada: A shocking incident has come to light in the Udala police station area in Mayurbhanj, where a minor girl narrowly escaped a gang rape attempt orchestrated by her boyfriend and his accomplices.
The incident occurred after the girl was picked up by her boyfriend, identified as Pragyasu Das Babu, along with four of his friends, after her tuition class.
According to reports, the group lured the minor to a forest near Udala under the pretext of trust built by her boyfriend. Once there, the accused attempted to sexually assault her. Applying presence of mind, the minor managed to escape the situation through quick thinking and cunning.
The girl later informed her family about the traumatic ordeal, prompting them to lodge a complaint at the Udala police station. Acting on the complaint, the police arrested Pragyasu Das Babu, the primary accused and the victim’s boyfriend. The other four suspects involved in the incident are currently absconding, and a manhunt has been launched to apprehend them.
Udala Inspector-in-Charge (IIC) Banamali Barik confirmed the arrest and stated that the police are actively investigating the case.
