Puri: The online sale of ‘Mahaprasad’ from the revered Shree Jagannath Temple has triggered widespread concern in Puri, following reports that an app named ‘Easy Essentials’ is allegedly offering the sacred offerings for home delivery.
According to a viral social media post, the app claims to deliver items such as Abhada, Dalma, Saga, and Besara to customers. Orders, once confirmed, reportedly cannot be canceled, and deliveries are promised by 10.30 pm. The service is said to be available only on Mondays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. The post further states that in the event of any delays due to temple rituals or transportation issues, prior notice will be provided.
According to reports, the platform may have hired individuals to facilitate the collection and delivery of the ‘Mahaprasad.’
In response, the Shree Jagannatha Temple Administration (SJTA) has reiterated that any such activity carried out without official authorisation is strictly illegal. The SJTA has previously warned the public against unauthorised distribution of ‘Mahaprasad,’ and emphasised that legal action will be taken against individuals or organisations found engaging in such practices.
