Bhubaneswar: A Special Vigilance Court in Cuttack on Monday sentenced retired Indian Forest Service (IFS) officer Amresh Kumar Jaiswal, former Conservator of Forests, O/o PCCF, Aranya Bhawan, Bhubaneswar, to two years of rigorous imprisonment for possessing assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.
In addition to the jail term, the court imposed a fine of Rs 50,000 on Jaiswal.
According to an official press release, Jaiswal was charge-sheeted by Odisha Vigilance under Section 13(2) read with Section 13(1)(e) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, for possessing assets disproportionate to his known sources of income. The Special Judge of the Vigilance Court in Cuttack found him guilty and passed the sentence.
Following the conviction, Odisha Vigilance will now move the competent authority to initiate the stoppage of Jaiswal’s pension.
