Bhubaneswar: Two senior police officers from Odisha have been selected for the prestigious President’s Medal for Distinguished Service on the occasion of Independence Day 2025.
According to the list released by the Ministry of Home Affairs, ASP Rabindra Panda and Commandant Naresh Patel will be honoured for their outstanding contributions to policing and public service.
In addition to this recognition, nine Odisha Police personnel will receive the Medal for Gallantry for their exceptional bravery in the line of duty. Furthermore, eleven officers will be awarded the Medal for Meritorious Service for their dedication and long-standing service.
The Ministry of Home Affairs has released the list of awardees, which is part of the national list of Gallantry and Service medals announced annually on Independence Day. These awards acknowledge the recipients’ extraordinary courage, distinguished service, and commitment to public safety.
It is pertinent to mention that a total of 233 individuals will be awarded Gallantry Awards, while 758 will receive Meritorious Service Medals in recognition of their exceptional service. Additionally, 99 individuals will be honoured with Distinguished Service Awards.
Nine individuals from Odisha will receive Gallantry Awards, comprising one Sub-Inspector, one Constable, two Odisha Auxiliary Police Force (OAPF) personnel, one Habildar, and four commandos. These awards will be given across various categories, including Police, Fire Services, Home Guards, and Civil Defense.
