Cuttack: The bail hearing in the Odisha Teacher Eligibility Test (OTET) question paper leak case has been postponed, with the Cuttack Additional District Judge (ADJ) Court fixing the next date of hearing for August 22.
The Crime Branch, which is investigating the high-profile case, has so far arrested former Vice-Chairman of the Board of Secondary Education, Nihar Ranjan Mohanty, along with six others. Earlier, the investigating agency had sought the remand of two of the accused, Bijay and Jitendra, which the court approved for two days.
During the remand period, the Crime Branch interrogated the duo separately and reportedly extracted crucial information. However, as the probe is still underway, the agency has not yet submitted the case diary before the court. Seeking additional time to complete its investigation, the Crime Branch requested a deferment of the hearing.
Accepting the plea, the ADJ Court adjourned the matter to August 22, when the bail applications of the accused will be heard.
