Bhubaneswar: Four persons were arrested on Monday in connection with a murder case at Daldali Pada under Khetrajpur police station in Sambalpur district.
The accused have been identified as Karan Joshi, Arjun Joshi, Jagdish, and Sananda — all residents of Daldali Pada.
According to police, the case came to light when a body was discovered on August 9 inside the Burla Power Tunnel. The Burla police seized the body and sent it for post-mortem examination. Subsequently, an investigation was launched.
On August 13, a resident of Daldali Pada filed a complaint at Khetrajpur police station, reporting his brother missing. During the probe, police confirmed that the missing person, identified as Babu Jadhav, matched the body found in the Burla Power Tunnel.
Following the findings, the Khetrajpur police arrested the four accused persons.
“Following the recovery of the dead body, under the guidance of senior police officials and with the efforts of the IIC and the investigation team, we arrested four persons. From their possession, an iron rod, a knife, and a vehicle were recovered. Scientific evidence is being gathered and a charge sheet will be filed shortly. Two of the accused are alleged to have killed the victim, while the other two aided in disposing of the body,” said Sambalpur Superintendent of Police Mukesh Kumar Bhamoo while addressing the media.
The investigation is ongoing.
