Anti-Terror Mock Drill Conducted At Odisha Assembly By NSG And State Forces

Bhubaneswar: A high-intensity anti-terrorist mock drill was conducted at the Odisha Legislative Assembly on Monday to test preparedness against potential terror strikes.

The exercise was carried out jointly by the National Security Guard (NSG) Commandos, Odisha Police, and Odisha Fire Services, with participation from the Special Tactical Unit (STU) and the Command Control Vehicle (CCV).

According to officials, the simulation was designed to evaluate the response mechanism in case of a terrorist infiltration. The drill scenario assumed that four to five armed terrorists had stormed the Assembly premises, triggering a high-alert situation. Acting on the intelligence input, Odisha Police immediately cordoned off the area and alerted the NSG, following which a team from Kolkata was flown in to join the operation.

The entire Assembly complex was brought under close surveillance using advanced monitoring systems mounted on the Command Control Vehicle. The joint forces then launched a coordinated counter-operation, deploying bulletproof and protective vehicles, alongside modern combat equipment and tactical techniques.

Apart from NSG commandos, Odisha Police personnel who had undergone three months of specialized commando training were also roped in, making the exercise a comprehensive test of coordination between central and state security forces.

Authorities said the drill was part of regular preparedness measures to strengthen counter-terrorism capabilities and ensure swift, coordinated action in the event of an actual threat.
