Bhubaneswar: A well-marked low-pressure area over the west-central and adjoining northwest Bay of Bengal and the north Andhra Pradesh–south Odisha coasts intensified into a depression by 5:30 pm IST on Monday.
According to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), the depression was centered near latitude 18.9°N and longitude 85.0°E, approximately 40 km south-southeast of Gopalpur (Odisha) and 110 km northeast of Kalingapatnam (Andhra Pradesh).
The system is moving northwestwards and is expected to cross the south Odisha–north Andhra Pradesh coast near south of Gopalpur during the forenoon of August 19, 2025.
Residents in the affected areas are advised to stay alert and follow official weather updates.
