Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Mohan Majhi has reviewed the construction of the new Odisha Bhawan in New Delhi, located in the Chanakyapuri area, and directed officials to expedite the process for early completion.
The 7-storey structure will cover 4,761 sq. m. and feature 45 rooms/suites, including a modern conference hall. The building’s design will reflect Odisha’s heritage, incorporating traditional stone craftsmanship, Sambalpuri ikat, and Odia cultural motifs.
The Chief Minister has also proposed expanding the Odisha Bhawan network. He suggested adding more rooms to the Mumbai Odisha Bhawan, given the rising number of cancer patients seeking treatment in the city. Additionally, Majhi proposed establishing new Odisha Bhawans in Ayodhya, Hyderabad, and Surat to serve devotees and the large Odia diaspora in these cities.
Furthermore, the Chief Minister has directed the renovation and modernisation of Utkal Bhawan in Kolkata to upgrade its facilities. The new Odisha Bhawan in Delhi will serve as a cultural and administrative hub for Odias in the national capital.
