Bhubaneswar: Berhampur Police on Saturday arrested five burglars involved in a series of thefts across the Chikiti subdivision. The police recovered stolen gold ornaments worth over Rs 25 lakh and Rs 1.5 lakh in cash, which were subsequently returned to 13 victims.
According to police, multiple burglary cases had been registered at K. Nuagaon and Digapahandi police stations in recent weeks. Following coordinated investigations, the five accused were arrested and stolen valuables seized.
The recovered gold, weighing approximately 250 grams, along with the cash, were handed over to the rightful owners in a ceremony held at the Berhampur police headquarters.
“The burglary gang was arrested due to effective coordination and investigation by K. Nuagaon and Digapahandi police teams. With this, 13 criminal cases have been solved. The recovered gold and cash have been returned to the 13 victims,” said SP Dr. Saravana Vivek M while addressing media persons.
