Rourkela: The Biramitrapur Police have arrested three persons in connection with last month’s shooting incident outside the Biramitrapur Tehsil office. A motorcycle, a country-made pistol, and a live bullet were seized from their possession.
According to police, the incident occurred when land broker Uttam Ghosh had visited the Tehsil office for official work. Around 1:15 PM, while reversing his car, two assailants on a motorcycle approached him. The pillion rider fired a shot aimed at him, but Ghosh narrowly escaped unhurt. The bullet pierced the car’s windshield and struck the back seat.
Ghosh later alleged that the attack was orchestrated by Wajid Ansari of Bhil-Phuljhar, with whom he had a financial dispute. He claimed that he had already paid ₹25 lakh for a land deal that was to be registered that day. Suspecting that Ansari intended to eliminate him to avoid repayment, Ghosh lodged a complaint at the Tehsil office immediately after the incident.
Police confirmed that the attack stemmed from the dispute and arrested three accused involved in the case. The investigation is ongoing to trace other possible conspirators.
