Bhubaneswar: Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Suresh Pujari on Tuesday said that floodwaters in Jajpur district have started to recede. Over 5,000 people are currently staying in government-run relief centres.
Minister Pujari announced that he will visit Jajpur today to inspect the flood-affected areas and oversee ongoing relief efforts. He said many residents had to be evacuated from their homes as water levels rose and surrounding areas were flooded.
The minister added that an embankment breach in Jajpur is being closely monitored. Repairs will begin once the water level reduces further. Officials are also preparing to provide compensation to families whose homes and crops have been damaged by the floods.
Relief centres are providing cooked meals, medical aid, and other essential supplies to evacuees, including elderly people and children.
Minister Pujari appealed to the people to cooperate with officials and stay safe by taking shelter in relief centres until the flood situation improves.
