Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi will distribute financial assistance of Rs 1,041 crore to over 51 lakh farmers under the CM Kisan Yojana on the occasion of Nuakhai, a significant agrarian festival, on Thursday.
The state-level programme, to be organised by the Department of Agriculture and Farmer Empowerment, aims to benefit small, marginal, landless, and urban farmers through direct benefit transfer (DBT).
Under the CM Kisan Yojana, small and marginal farmers will receive Rs 4,000 annually in two instalments. This initiative is designed to support farmers not covered under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) scheme.
Notably, last year on Nuakhai, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi launched the CM Kisan Yojana in Odisha, providing financial assistance to around 46 lakh small, marginal, and landless farmers. This year’s distribution marks a significant expansion of the scheme, benefiting a larger number of farmers across the state.
