Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has reported that the well-marked low pressure area over south coastal Odisha has weakened into a low pressure area over South Odisha and adjoining Chhattisgarh as of 5:30 am today.
According to the regional weather office, this system is expected to move west-northwestwards across Chhattisgarh over the next 24 hours.
Meanwhile, the IMD has issued an orange warning for Malkangiri today, predicting heavy rain in some of the parts of the district.
A yellow warning has also been issued for several districts, including Koraput, Nabarangapur, Ganjam, Gajapati, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Nayagarh, Khurda, and Puri, due to expected heavy rainfall and thunderstorms.
Additionally, thunderstorms and gusty winds are forecasted for Rayagada, Nuapada, Balangir, and surrounding areas.
Also, the IMD has extended the yellow warning for possible heavy rain and thunderstorms in parts of Odisha until August 31, advising residents to remain cautious and stay updated with the latest weather forecasts.
