Talcher (Angul): A tragic road accident on National Highway 53 near Santhapada Square in Talcher claimed the life of a biker on Monday. The deceased has been identified as Manoj Behera, a resident of Barihapur.
According to reports, a trailer truck was moving from Ballahar Square towards Parjang when it suddenly applied brakes near Santhapada Square, Manoj, who was returning home to Barihapur after finishing work in Talcher, collided with the rear of the truck. The impact proved fatal, and he died on the spot.
Following the accident, locals and the victim’s family staged a road blockade demanding compensation. Traffic movement on the highway was disrupted for some time.
Later, Talcher police reached the spot, pacified the agitated crowd, and restored normalcy.
Police have seized the trailer truck and initiated an investigation into the incident.
